ChapterNine is now on Twitter

Twitter logoWhen it comes to having a 'presence' on the web, these days having a web site just isn't enough.  We can spend hours fiddling with Search Engine Optimisation, trying to get our site to the top of the search results, but even that's only half the battle - you need people to be searching for you first.  This is where a more complete marketing campaign needs the structure to take in all the various forms of media to get the widest coverage possible, to reach as many people in as many ways as available.

Now, I'm not one for internet fads.  As much as I'm fascinated by the latest technologies, actually participating in new ventures usually takes some persuasion.  By the time I got myself on Facebook it was already well established and it felt like everyone had beat me to it, and now it's begun to stagnate I'm wondering whether it was worth the bother.  I thought of Twitter in the same way - a passing fancy that would soon die out as people realised how pointless it was.

So, why the sudden turnaround?  Why is ChapterNine on Twitter?  It largely comes down to the result in our most recent marketing analysis, looking at where we advertise and how effective it is.  We looked at putting C9 on Facebook a while back, and decided that it just wasn't the right forum for it.  However, after reading a few interesting articles on social networking, in particular one on how Twitter can be used for business, we realised that Twitter might just be on to something after all.  Tweeting about what we're up to can have a positive impact on our web presence, showing people what we're doing.

It's important to note that we will not be tweeting about anything and everything like some people do - we have work to be doing, after all.  But it will serve as a great platform for telling the world what projects we're working on, sharing web resources we've found useful, even advertising our client's sites.  It's the beginning of the road for us, but we're looking forward to where Twitter will take us.  If you're on Twitter and you'd like to hear about what's hot in our office, follow us at twitter.com/chapter9.  See you there...
