Site now live - Thomas Plume's Library
Dr Thomas Plume was a vicar, and established a library way back in 1704 for all the books he'd collected. Since then the library has been kept and added to, and now boasts his collection of 8,100 books plus several other collections. Walking around the converted church you get a real sense of history, with the smell of old parchment and the squeak of ancient floorboards. It may come as a surprise, then, to hear that they wanted a web site.
In fact, this coincides with the culmination of a lengthy process of cataloguing, logging each and every book onto a database with information about authors, editors, publishers, and even a brief summary of its content. With the database nearly finished they came to us and asked for a web site to accompany the catalogue, allowing visitors to search the entire collection. We offered a complete package, including logo design, web design, setup of an easy to use Content Management System, inclusion of the online search facility, web hosting, and we're also designing a new leaflet for them. The end result is a welcoming and informative web presence for this ancient library, bringing it into the 21st century with style.
